At a glance, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gonera- Kotputli

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gonera-Kotputli was established at Kotputli Tehsil of Jaipur district on 28 March 2012 by ICAR. Before this KVK was started in 13 January 1989 under Rajasthan Agricultural University with 76.06 ha land. But due to government policy i.e. one KVK in one District, this KVK was closed in 2004.

Apart from conducting demonstrations on various improved practices, KVK also involve in FLD, OFT, training of school dropout extension functionaries, farm women and rural youth on different subject like horticulture, agronomy, home science, animal husbandry and other enterprise. District Jaipur –II comes under semi arid Eastern plain, soil are sandy to sandy loam and normal rainfall 541 mm. Which directly affect on the agricultural production as well as cropping pattern of the areas. The Krishi Vigyan Kendra operated in seven tehsils (Kotputli, Paota, Shahpura, Viratnagar, Amer, Bassi and Jamuwaramgarh ) of Jaipur district.

Lt.Col(Dr.) Supern Singh Shekhawat did his M.Sc (Agri.) , Ph.D from Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner. Earlier worked as an Assistant Manager, Ramgarh Resort and Polo Complex, Jaipur and playing member of Indian Polo Association. After Clearing Service Selection Board he got commission in Territorial Army. During his tenure in Territorial Army, he served in very hostile environment of J&K. He got three service medals for this distinguished service in Territorial Army. He is still continuing in Territorial Army. In the year 2006. he got selected as an Assistant Professor in SD Agricultural University, Sardar krushinagar, Dantiwada, Banaskantha, Gujarat. He served as Assistant Professor for 6 year and got selected as Associate Professor at College of Agriculture Tharad, Banaskantha. He has guided 4 master research, published many research papers in national and international journals and prepared two practical manuals during his tenure at S.D Agriculture university.

After serving 12 years at Gujarat he got an opportunity to serve in Rajasthan and got selected as Senior Scientist and Head at Krishi Vigyan Kender , Kotputli of Shri Karan Narander Agriculture University, Jobner in 2018 and serving till date. He has published several popular articles and folders pertaining to agriculture.

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra celebrate and conduct awareness programme on International Yoga day (21st June), World food day (16th October), World soil day celebration (5th December) during each year. Also conduct two preseasonal training programme, SAC meeting and other awareness programme for farmers, Farm women and Rural youth during every year.
